Urban Water Supply Rehabilitation Programme Kosovo VI - Region: Gjakova and Rahovec

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Through the completed project, the participating regional utilities, specifically Gjakova and Rahovec in Phase I, and potentially Prizren and Peja in Phase II, have achieved the objective of providing reliable and sustainable water supply and wastewater disposal services within their respective supply areas at reasonable prices.

The project was divided into two phases. In Phase I, which took place from 2005 to 2006, investments were made to ensure efficient water production and high water quality. Efforts were also made to enhance the integration with the sewerage system, reduce water losses, expand the supply system, and undertake additional necessary investments.

In Phase II, implemented in 2007, specific investments were focused on the regional water companies of Peja and Prizren. Overall, the project has successfully contributed to the improvement and development of the water supply and wastewater management infrastructure in the targeted regions.

Service Provided by the Team

The completed project involved providing comprehensive assistance and support to the regional water supply companies in various aspects of general program administration.

This included aiding in the preparation of a priority investment list for the program, verifying and evaluating proposed investment needs, and facilitating the design and finalization of tender documents for procurement of goods and services.

Additionally, the project involved procuring materials for network repair and replacement, supporting the companies in tender evaluation, contract negotiation, and award, and overall project management for the investments.

Technical assistance was provided to both the management contractor and the regional water supply companies in implementing the investment measures. The project also encompassed the supervision of supply and construction works, including post-construction activities in accordance with FIDIC guidelines. Furthermore, financial management, including the management of the disposition fund, was handled as part of the project’s scope.
