Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the proposed Kosovo Power
The objective of the project was to prepare the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the proposed Kosovo Power Project and its associated infrastructure.
The purpose was to meet the requirements set by international financial institutions (IFIs) to support decision-making regarding the provision of financing and guarantees for the project. The ESIA was prepared in full compliance with both national and European Union (EU) legislation, ensuring that all necessary environmental and social assessments were conducted to obtain the required permits and authorizations for the proposed project.
The study for the Kosovo Power Project (KPP) will be conducted using comprehensive environmental, social, and other baseline data.
The analysis will take into account specific site characteristics, project technical specifications, and relevant mitigation measures, aligning with the standards and guidelines established for power plants.
These include EU Directives, Best Available Techniques Reference (BREF) documents, World Bank policies and Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines, IFC/MIGA performance standards, EBRD Performance Requirements, as well as Kosovo legislation and the specifications outlined for the proposed KPP. By adhering to these frameworks, the study will ensure that all relevant environmental and social considerations are thoroughly assessed and addressed in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
