WATER & WASTEWATER

Consulting Services for Design, Tender Documents, Construction Supervision, and Institutional Development Prishtina I

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project's primary objective is to enhance the quality, reliability, and sustainability of Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) services in the City of Prishtina, while simultaneously safeguarding water resources.

Firstly, any unclear or low-priority measures have been canceled, prioritizing indicators’ accessibility. The focus has been directed toward rehabilitating the pipe network to address the high water losses in the distribution system and maximize the benefits for the community in terms of improved water distribution. Additionally, hydraulic modeling of the pipe network in Peja has been conducted to design an additional pressure zone and determine the optimal placement and sizing of new reservoirs and pumping stations. Detailed designs and tender documents have been prepared, taking into account the reprogrammed measures proposed by the waterworks. Reporting has been carried out, highlighting the successes, challenges encountered, and the approaches taken to address them. Furthermore, the level of fulfillment of indicators has been documented to evaluate the project’s overall progress.

Component C centers around institutional development, including the establishment of a Task Force department responsible for water demand management.

Other activities encompass developing a Long-Term Investment Plan, implementing an incremental tariff adjustment schedule, creating a water resources development plan, supporting the Public Entity of Waterworks (PEA) in block mapping and leak detection, and conducting public relations campaigns to enhance customer relationships.
