The construction of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated infrastructure in the Municipality of Ulcinj is a strategic investment in the city’s future, aimed at improving quality of life, protecting the coastal environment, and supporting the sustainable growth of tourism and the local economy. Hidroing-DK is working together with GOPA Tech GmbH, Germany & E3-Consulting,Montenegro, combining international expertise with strong local knowledge to support the development of modern and environmentally sustainable wastewater infrastructure.
The first phase of the wastewater treatment plant will have a capacity of approximately 60,000 population equivalent (PE), with the possibility of future expansion to around 140,000 PE. The project also includes approximately 7 km of sewer pipelines, two new wastewater pumping stations, a marine outfall system, and the supporting infrastructure required for reliable operation. By improving wastewater collection and treatment, the project will help reduce pollution, protect groundwater and coastal waters, and create a healthier and safer environment for residents and visitors.
Beyond infrastructure, the project will make an important contribution to the protection of Ulcinj’s beaches, marine ecosystems, and natural resources, while strengthening the municipality’s position as a sustainable tourism destination. It will support future urban and tourism development, improve public health and municipal services, and create better conditions for public and private investment.
